Veterinary & Professional Disclaimer

Last updated: September 2026

The information and services provided by CT Equine are intended to support the mobility, physical function, comfort and management of the individual horse. Equine osteopathy is a complementary approach and does not replace veterinary diagnosis, treatment or advice.

Veterinary Care

As an equine osteopath, I do not diagnose veterinary disease or injury. Where a horse presents with unexplained lameness, acute or significant pain, swelling, suspected injury, illness, neurological signs or another concern requiring veterinary investigation, owners will be advised to contact their veterinary surgeon.

Where veterinary consent, referral or involvement is required, osteopathic treatment will only proceed in accordance with applicable UK legislation and professional requirements.

If your horse is currently under veterinary care, has an existing diagnosis, is taking medication or is undergoing rehabilitation following an injury, please provide this information before treatment.

Osteopathic Assessment & Treatment

Every horse is assessed and treated as an individual. Osteopathic assessment may consider the horse's movement, posture, joint mobility, muscles, fascia, areas of tension or restriction and compensatory movement patterns alongside their history, workload and discipline.

Treatment may include a range of appropriate hands-on osteopathic techniques, selected according to the findings of the assessment and the individual horse.

Although osteopathy may form part of a horse's wider management, no specific treatment outcome, improvement in performance, prevention of injury or recovery timeframe can be guaranteed.

Whole-Body & Holistic Approach

Osteopathy considers the relationship between structure and function throughout the body. My approach may therefore consider how the musculoskeletal system interacts with wider physiological systems and how factors such as workload, training, environment, behaviour and general health may influence the horse as a whole.

This whole-body approach does not constitute diagnosis or treatment of internal disease or veterinary conditions. Where signs indicate that veterinary investigation may be appropriate, veterinary advice should be sought.

Rehabilitation & Exercise Plans

Fitness and rehabilitation plans provided by CT Equine are tailored to the information available about the individual horse.

Where rehabilitation relates to an injury, surgery or diagnosed veterinary condition, exercise recommendations are intended to work alongside the diagnosis, restrictions and guidance provided by the horse's veterinary team. They are not a replacement for veterinary treatment or a veterinary rehabilitation programme where one is required.

Owners should stop or modify exercise as appropriate and seek veterinary advice if a horse develops new or worsening pain, lameness, illness or other concerning symptoms.

Freelance Riding & Training

Ridden work and training recommendations are based on the information provided by the owner and my assessment of the individual horse.

Horse behaviour and response to exercise can be unpredictable. I reserve the right to alter or discontinue ridden work where I consider that continuing could compromise the safety or welfare of the horse, rider or others.

Owners are responsible for disclosing relevant medical, behavioural and training history before ridden work begins.

Website & Research Information

Information provided on this website, including blog articles, research pages, social media content and general exercise advice, is intended for educational and informational purposes only.

It should not be used to diagnose an individual horse or as a substitute for veterinary assessment or individual professional advice.

Where scientific research is discussed, I aim to represent the available evidence accurately. Research into equine osteopathy and manual therapy continues to develop, and findings from individual studies do not guarantee that the same outcomes will occur in every horse.

Working as Part of Your Horse's Team

Good equine care often requires a multidisciplinary approach. Where appropriate, I am happy to work alongside your veterinary surgeon, farrier, saddle fitter, physiotherapist, coach and other relevant equine professionals to support the individual needs of your horse.

If you are unsure whether osteopathic assessment is appropriate for your horse, please contact CT Equine or speak to your veterinary surgeon before booking.
